ICEFA 2009 Prize Awards - Croatia, Zagreb

On 26 November 2009 the School Museum in Zagreb witnessed medals and certificates being ceremoniously awarded by Ambassador Karel Kühnl to pupils from Croatian schools, the creators of winning entries in the 37th ICEFA Lidice 2009.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Croatia traditionally engaged in organizing the event. The 37th edition had 40 Croatian schools in total, with 28 of their pupils being awarded a prize. Besides the winners, also representatives of the schools, teachers and pedagogues, were present at the prize award ceremony.
After the ceremony, the director of the School Museum in Zagreb gave the children small presents and joined Ambassador Karel Kühnl in talking with them about the Czech village of Lidice. The Ambassador stressed the importance of keeping the memories of the horrors of WWII so that they could not be repeated in the future. Both the children and the representatives of the schools promised their participation in the 38th edition of this international competition.
The event in the School Museum was watched by some journalists from Croatian national dailies (Jutarnji list, Novi list…) and Ambassador Karel Kühnl gave interview to HTV1 programme Prizma. The event was covered also by Croatian Press Agency (HINA) and other media.
