ICEFA 2011 Prize Awards - Lithuania, Vilnius

On 26 September the Czech Embassy in Vilnius had ceremonial prize awards to acknowledge the Lithuanian winners of the 39th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2011 (ICEFA).
Lithuanian participants were very successful this year: they received five medals and fourteen honourable mentions. The ceremony was opened with performances by the pupils of the Vilnius Algirdas Art School Vakaré and Eiginté Kuklyté, who not only sang the Czech folk song “Green Grass” but they played the pieces by V Bagdonas and R. Zhigaitis “Young kids” and “Dance” respectively. Children and parents also warmly welcomed other young artists: Emilia Kuncevič (the piece “Kazokélis“), Karolina Tarasevič (the piece “Along a Wood Trail” by D. Kairaityté), Gabriele Šiménaité (Sonatina op. 49 no. 3 F-major), Loreta Uzelo (pieces from the cycle “Spring in the Garden” by B. Martinu), Kamilia Linkuté and Mantvydas Vaičelis (Waltz by D. Rido). However, what they enjoyed the most was the main part of the event – children from Trakai Art School, Lithuanian Educational Centre for the Blind and the Week-Sighted and Viekšniai nursery school “Liepaité” received their medals, certificates and gifts from Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Lithuania Radek Pech. The ceremonial prize awards took place in a congenial and friendly atmosphere in the presence of the parents, the siblings and the teachers of the young laureates. As has become a tradition, little laureates (most of them were only six or seven years old) and their accompanying parties had an opportunity to taste Czech sweets and specialities prepared for them by the staff of the Embassy and their families.
Looking forward to the jubilee 40th ICEFA Lidice 2010, the Embassy in Vilnius would like to extend their thanks to the Lidice Memorial, Head of the Lidice Gallery and ICEFA Curator Mgr. Ivona Kasalická and PDD for the excellent co-operation in sending the prizes and the children’s entries to Vilnius.
