ICEFA 2011 Prize Awards – Ukraine, Doneck

On 19 September 2011 the Consulate General in Doneck organized ceremonial awards to participants of the 39th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice. The prizes for the selected participants from the part of Ukraine in the competence of the Consulate General in Doneck had been sent to the Consulate by the steering committee of the exhibition.
The award ceremony took place in the newly-opened gallery Artdonbas in the presence of the child winners, their parents and teachers, cultural figures of the town and the region and with a high media attendance. The certificates and medals were presented to the winners by Consul General O. Morávek and the young Czech author and translator Barbora Gregorová, who, in co-operation with the Czech Centre in Kiev, visited Doneck to make a presentation of her book Kámen – hora – papír (Stone – Mountain – Paper). The presentation of the book was held with the support of the Consulate General in Doneck’s House of a Cultural Worker some hours later, attended by members of the Literature Club of the town of Doneck, representatives of the Consulate General, cultural workers of the town and the region and media people.
The high appreciation for the award ceremony on the Ukrainian part makes us believe that it will surely contribute to increased participation of children from the eastern part of Ukraine in the next edition of the exhibition, which is to commemorate not only the Lidice children but also all child victims of war.
