31. 10. 2011
Thetford Grammar School pupils have celebrated their success in the Lidice ICEFA awards. Certificates were received from the Czech Embassy in London and were presented at the school’s weekly assembly by Headmaster Mr Gareth Price M.A. (Oxon).
Head of Art Amanda Sherring, (pictured left) has visited Lidice twice, most recently as part of the international panel of appointed to judge the 39th exhibition. Winning entries were submitted by (from left to right), Toby Fleming, Archie Blakemore, Brittney Banks, Sam Sayer and Grace Colasante. Absent for the photograph were Leo Hook and Imogen Walker.
The Thetford/Lidice link has grown from a joint venture to edit English Language content at the Lidice memorial to include choir exchanges and cultural visits. Head of Sixth Form Stephen Spencer (right), who accompanied the Czech delegation which re-established links with Stoke on Trent in 2010 said that he was “Proud to have been present at this significant event and now a committed supporter of Lidice Shall Live.”
