ICEFA 2011 Prize Awards - Russia, Ekaterinburk - Omsk, Pervouralsk, Verhnaya Salda

31. 10. 2011

As it was last year 2010, the Consulate General in Ekaterinburg conceived the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2011 Prize Awards as a festive occasion, with the presence of the children, parents, teachers, school managements and city councils. The 39th edition of the competition on the theme “That is where I live, that’s me” had fifteen children awarded from six art schools in the Ural and the Siberian Federal Circuits, which testifies to an extraordinary interest of art schools and children even from remote areas of Russia. This year the certificates and medals went to children from art schools in Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Pervouralsk and Verkhnaya Salda.
Children from other schools in remote regions of Russia r

ceived their honourable mentions by post along with a letter of greeting from the Consul General.

On 7 September 2011 the ceremonial awards took place in the Siberian urban centre Omsk as a part of the visit programme of CR Senate delegation led by Vice-Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Zdeněk Škromach. The award ceremony was held in the conference room of the Omsk city hall under the auspices of the mayor of the city, in the presence of Senators of the Czech Republic, headmasters, teachers and the parents of the child winners. The children (A. Pechura, S. Eremina, N. Golozov, U. Solonina) and the art school received their prizes from Consul General Miroslav Rameš and Vice-Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Zdeněk Škromach, who also presented the children with some keepsakes. The event got very positive media coverage.

On 9 September 2011 a formal meeting of the child winners and Consul General M. Rameš took place in the town hall of the town of Pervouralsk.

As it was the first visit of the Consul General to this town, the programme was prepared by the organizers with all seriousness. The town is located exactly on the line dividing Europe and Asia. The first welcome of the Consul General took place in the traditional Russian style directly at the monument marking this border. Then the awards were arranged of certificates and keepsakes in the town hall in the presence of the mayor, followed by a tour through the art school and a meeting with the children. A showing of a fairytale was greatly enjoyed by the children. The medal rewarded the work by Alana Tatiščeva, the youngest girl-pupil in the school; the certificates were received by V. Malec, E. Šeinrok, A. Dvojnišnikova, J. Jezdakova and J. Bokova.

On 30 September 2011 a similar meeting with children took place in a more remote town of the Sverdlovsk Region, Verkhnaya Salda.

As there is a school involved that focuses not only on visual art but also music and dance, the ceremonial awards to two pupils of the school also included a concert of children’s music band, performances by young soloists and demonstrations by dance groups. The prizes were granted to the pupils K. Konovalova and J. Ivanova. The meetings with children and the performances had a festive atmosphere, were very impressive and met with an enormous interest of the parents and the management of the school.

All the visited towns showed a great interest in the competition as well as the Czech Republic itself. A positive aspect of this event was that the town councils showed a great interest so that the awards took place in the presence of the highest officials. The presentation of the certificates by the Consul General himself in the presence of media, city officials, teachers and the parents became an extraordinary experience as well as a big motivation for the children to participate in the next edition of the Lidice exhibition.

Our thanks go to the organizers of the competition; we look forward to future co-operation.

Ing. Miroslav Rameš Consul General of the CR in Ekaterinburg
