ICEFA 2012 Prize Awards – Azerbaijan, Baku

On 31 October 2012, within the celebration of the Day of Foundation of the Independent Czechoslovak State, the Czech Embassy in Baku had a prize award ceremony in which the participants of the 40th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts (ICEFA) “Lidice 2012” received their prizes.
In his opening speech, Head of the Diplomatic Mission R. Matula mentioned the meaning and the mission of ICEFA and gladly acknowledged the growing interest in this competition among participants from Azerbaijan; Azerbaijani children had sent in 481 entries in total, which is 120 more than in the previous edition, making Azerbaijan rank the 12th from among 65 countries in terms of the number of participants.
As has become a tradition, a formal announcement of the theme of the next ICEFA was made at the event.
Also Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan S. Mammadaliyeva addressed the winners and their teachers, thanking the Head of the Diplomatic Mission for arranging the ceremony and appreciating the effort of the Lidice Memorial, Ministry of Culture of the CR, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the CR, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the CR and Czech Commission for UNESCO, which consistently support and promote ICEFA. At the end of her address, she invited the attendees to participate actively in the upcoming edition featuring the theme “Tradition and Legacy of My Country's People”.
Apart from their certificates (and a “Rose of Lidice” medal in one case), five young artists received also material prizes reflecting the theme of the 40th ICEFA “The Theatre - The Puppet - The Fairytale” – traditional Czech puppets.
The prize-giving ceremony was attended by representatives of Azerbaijani mass media 1news az a AzerTaç.
