ICEFA 2012 Prize Awards - Croatia, Zagreb

On 29 November 2012, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Zagreb in co-operation with the School Museum in Zagreb organized formal awards of certificates and medals to children from Croatian schools who had sent their artworks on the theme “The Theatre The Puppet - The Fairytale” to the 40 International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice. As has become a tradition, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Croatia engaged in organizing the event. The 40th edition received 101 Croatian entries in total, with ten pupils being awarded a prize.
The event is held annually by the Lidice Memorial to commemorate the victims of the Lidice tragedy. The aim of the exhibition is to arouse the interest of the youngest generation in modern history, namely in the events related to WWII.
Besides the winners, also representatives of the schools, pedagogues and the parents attended the prize award ceremony.
The award ceremony was opened by Curator of the School Museum Kristina Gverič while Director of the museum Branka Manin gave a warm welcome to the guests. Having mentioned in his speech the reason why this international competition has been held, Ambassador of the Czech Republic Martin Košatka expressed his thanks to all participants as well as their parents and teachers for their participation and congratulated the makers of the awarded entries. Then he gave the winners the medal and the certificates.
The ceremony was followed by refreshments, at which the director of the School Museum in Zagreb gave small presents to the children and joined Ambassador in talking with them about the Czech village of Lidice and their winning works.
Both the children and the representatives of the schools promised their participation in the 41st edition of this international competition next year.
