ICEFA 2012 Prize Awards - Great Britain, London

18. 12. 2012

This year’s 40th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2012 saw an increase in numbers of schools and children participating in the competition across the UK. As has become a tradition, prize-winning children from around Stoke on Trent receive their certificates from Mr. and Mrs Gerrard, who strive to revive the idea of Lidice and Barnett Stross, who initiated the ‘Lidice Shall Live’ campaign and contributed significantly to the reconstruction of the village of Lidice and the establishment of the Lidice Collection.

The prize-giving ceremony is usually attended by a representative of the Embassy in London. There were among the winners three children from the Czech School without Borders in London this year. Deputy Ambassador Antonín Hradílek presented the prizes to the child-winners at the literary and visual workshop organized by the Czech School without Borders in London in co-operation with the Embassy on 11 November 2012. In his speech, the deputy ambassador expressed his appreciation for the children who participated in the art competition and invited them to participate in the next edition as well. Upon agreement between the Head of the Lidice Gallery and a teacher from the Czech School without Borders, the certificates were also given to the children whose entries had not won a prize.

Jana Přikrylová, 3rd Secretary of the Embassy in London
