ICEFA 2013 Prize Awards - Australia, Melbourne

On 1 December more than a hundred of young and adult compatriots met on St. Nicholas party in the national House of Czechs and Slovaks in Melbourne, awaiting the coming of St. Nicholas, an angel and a devil.
This year's meeting was all the more festive because we were honoured to present certificates and books to children from the Czech School Melbourne who had been awarded in the 41st International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice. The first year of participation of the young Czech-Australians in this exhibition was successful for Viktor Širůček (9 years) and Talia Vasitch (6 years), who received honourable mentions for their artworks.
The prizes were presented by the teacher Dagmar Cuno Hájková and the headmistress Zuzana Vasitch. Subsequently, Vice Consul Šárka Ponroy Vamberová from the Consulate of the Czech Republic in Sydney congratulated children in person, inviting all of them to participate in the 42nd edition of the Lidice exhibition on the theme "Family farming, or our garden and field".
While the young artists from Melbourne were receiving their prizes under thunderous applause from all the present, we, in the intimate atmosphere of our National House, were remembering the festive and grand air of the May preview at the Lidice Gallery and the varied programme at the House of Culture Kladno. Thank you for your warm welcome at the preview 2013.
