ICEFA 2018 Prize Awards - Luxembourg, Luxembourg

20. 12. 2018

I would like to inform you on the prize-giving ceremony taking place on the premises of the Czech embassy in Luxembourg on 29 November 2018 to celebrate the successful participants of the 46th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2018.

The invitation to the ceremony was extended not only to the award-winning children, but also to their parents and siblings. Also present at the event were children that had sent in their works but did not receive an award. As last year, we arranged their entries into a small exhibition the opening of which took place alongside the certificate-giving ceremony. These children received a small gift each.

In my opening speech, I welcomed guests including State Secretary for Culture G. Arendt, President of Luxembourg Art Schools S. Sylvestrie and the managements of the schools participating in the competition. I continued with brief information of the history of the competition, stressing particularly the importance of the Lidice legacy. I also highlighted the positive contribution of the competition to the education and development of the young generation. I concluded with an invitation to the 47th ICEFA LIDICE 2019.

Then two children were presented with honourable mentions : Karen Pickart and Timotei Gordievich. After that,  a group photo was taken and an informal discussion at small refreshments took place.

Great credit not only for promotion of the competition but also for organizational arrangements for children's participation goes to our Honorary Consul Iva Mrázková, who I would like to thank for excellent co-operation.
