ICEFA 2018 Prize Awards - Ukraine, Kiev

On 14 November 2018, the Czech Embassy in Kiev witnessed Ambassador Ivan Počuch present awards to the Ukrainian children whose works were awarded in the 46th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice.
35 prizes in total were awarded to pupils of art schools in Banilov-Podgorny, Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Dobropilia, Donetsk, Drogobych, Kiev, Krivyi Rih, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Nizhin, Odessa, Putyla, Sumy and Zaporizhia. Ambassador Radek Matula presented the children with medals and honourable mentions along with small gifts. The Czech Centre prepared a programme for the children to introduce them to the history of Lidice and to tell them some interesting information about the Czech Republic.
The International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts was founded in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice who were murdered by German Nazis in 1942, as well as all other children who died in wars. Although national initially, this exhibition became an international one in 1973 and in the course of its history gained renown all over the world.
The main theme of this year's 46th international art competition was Water (over gold). Children can participate in the next edition which has already been announced. Its theme is Chemistry.
