ICEFA 2020 Prize Awards – Latvia

11. 11. 2020

Awards for the 48th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2020 on the theme "Landscape" are on their way to more than fifty laureates from Latvia!

As usual, this year's ICEFA Lidice attracted a lot of attention in Latvia, we received a total of 828 works for the competition, including ninety eight art objects. Fifty four children received an award, eight of them the highest – medal “The Rose of Lidice”. Elīna Svilāne won a medal for a drawing of a field, Veronika Galeja and Elizabete Truskovska for a collective ceramic work with insect motifs. Marta Bondare and Marta Rozenberga captivated the jury with moth sculptures made of cardboard and paper, Engelberts Tabaks with his glass relief depicting a growing flower. Medals for photography went to Gustavs Cīrulis and Kārlis Grava. You can view the medalists’ artworks in the photo gallery.

Due to the current health situation, this year's award ceremony takes place online - you can watch a video presentation with artworks by all awarded participants from Latvia on facebook of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riga. The laureates will receive their diplomas and medals by post, together with a letter from Mrs. Jana Hynková, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Latvia, and a book by a Czech author translated into Latvian. We would like to thank the Czech Embassy for sending the awards together with beautiful gifts for the children.

We cordially congratulate the winners and thank all the children from Latvia who took part in the competition this year, as well as teachers and relatives who support them in their creative endeavors. We look forward to artworks sent to the next edition – on the theme "Robot and artificial intelligence".
