ICEFA 2010 prize awards - Lithuania, Vilnius

30. 9. 2010

On 22 September 2010 the Czech embassy in Vilnius hosted the presentation of International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts (ICEFA) Lidice 2010 awards to laureates from Lithuania.

Ambassador Radek Pech presented medals and certificates to children from the Gargzdai grammar school Vaivorykshté, the Trakai Art School, the Lithuanian Education Centre for the blind and weak-sighted, the primary school at Lentvaris, the art school at Vievis, the Vilnius Art School for Children and Youth, and the nursery school at Viekshinai. The prize awards took place in a very congenial and pleasant atmosphere in the presence of the parents, the siblings and the teachers of the young laureates. The ceremony was opened by a duo of girl pianists from the Bronius Jonushas Art School in Vilnius, M. Moniciuté and K. Donskojuté, followed by the violinist Norbert Keizo of the art school at Rudamin and a five-year-old soloist, E. Kuncevic. Having heartily welcomed the laureates, Ambassador R. Pech presented the prizes, eagerly looked forward to by the children. The laureates, their teachers and their parents received wishes of success from the main expert of the General and Vocational Education Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Lithuanian Republic Dalia Shiatlytiené. This year a pupil of Trakai Art School, Skaisté Tamoshaityté, had received a special honour: she had been awarded the prize directly at Lidice. That is why she and her teacher Renata Meczkovskiené presented a photo reportage and an account of their visit to Lidice and Prague, including other interesting events they had experienced in the Czech Republic. After performances of young musicians from the Rudamin Music School, the accordeonists A. Zilo and M. Voitkun, the saxophonists T. Cepkauskas and O. Paramonov and the choir of the Vilnius Department of the Vocational Organization of Lithuanian Teachers, who sang a Czech folk song, the guests could view a small exhibition of non-winning ICEFA entries and taste Czech and Lithuanian sweets prepared by the staff of the Embassy and their families.

The Embassy in Vilnius is grateful to the Lidice Memorial and to you personally for the excellent co-operation, looking forward to the 39th ICEFA Lidice 2011.

Grazina Bikulciuté, official at the Embassy
