ICEFA 2010 prize awards - Slovenia, Ljubljana

16. 10. 2010

On 12 October, the pupils of Slovenian primary schools who had won in the 38th Children’s exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE 2010 received their honourable mentions from Ambassador of the CR in Ljubljana Petr Voznica. The award ceremony was attended by the pupils, their teachers and their artistic mentors and in some cases also by their parents. The award ceremony took place in the ceremonial room of the Embassy in Ljubljana on Tuesday morning, for the first time in the presence of representative of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture of Slovenia.

The awards were bestowed upon pupils of two primary schools, Lampred Vid from the primary school Anice Černejeve z Makole and Bolka Blaž, Maradik Jaka and Štirn Ela from the primary school Davorina Jenka v Cerklje na Gorenjskem. After the award ceremony an informal discussion with a modest banquet followed in which the pupils and their escorts showed an active interest in Czech culture, education system and other facts about the Czech Republic. The Ambassador invited the pupils to participate in the 39th edition in 2011.
The participation of Slovenia in the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE 2010 was traditionally good; among the non-winning participants of this year’s competition were pupils of the Primary School Franca Rozmana Staneta Maribor, Primary School Vodice, Primary School Poljčane, Primary School Bratov Poljančičev Maribor, Primary School Toneta Čufarja Maribor and Primary School Spodnja Šiška Ljubljana.

In the late September, the reference material on the 38th children’s exhibition and the invitation to participate in the 39th edition was handed over not only to the schools having the winning pupils (Primary School Makole and Primary School Cerklje na Gorenjskem) but also to all participating school as well as the Slovenian Ministries of Culture and of Education and Sport. All prospective applicants are referred to the website of the Lidice exhibition www.mdvv-lidice.cz containing details of the previous exhibitions as well as the information necessary to submit a correctly filled in application (closing date 15 March 2011).
