ICEFA 2010 prize awards - India, Mumbai

On 11 January 2011 the Consul General of the CR in Mumbai presented children attending Shefali’s Art Classes with prizes awarded by the panel of judges of the 38th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2010. The art classes led by Ms Shefali Raj are attended by 350 children in Mumbai. They participated in the international Lidice competition for the first time last year, sending in a collection of 150 entries. The collection was awarded a “Lidice Rose” medal by the panel of judges, with ten children receiving honourable mentions.
Consul General Eva Drdáková presented the certificates in the M.P Shah School in Vile Parle district on 11 January 2011. The award ceremony was attended by the teacher Ms Shefali Raj, two assistant teachers, the parents who had established the school, the laureates and their relatives. The Consulate General prepared parcels for each laureate containing keepsakes to remind them of the Czech Republic. After a short opening speech about the Czech Republic and the competition, the Consul General presented each child with a certificate. Then she talked with children about their pictures and other hobbies. They expressed appreciation for the awards which were a great experience for them.
The success in the competition was an encouragement for Ms Shefali who promised to participate in the next edition of the competition and to distribute information about the competition among other establishments working along similar lines.
