ICEFA 2010 prize awards - Albania, Tirana

On 20 January 2011 the Embassy in Tirana hosted the 38th ICEFA Prize Awards to the winners in the presence of their parents. The latest ICEFA Lidice related to diversity of living nature.
Out of 25,132 entries by children from 61 countries 1463 were awarded, including 624 entries from abroad. Also four Albanian children received prizes. The Tirana group Gezimi i Syrit led by a teacher at a private art school had a medal winner: the 12-year-old Shoti Melisa was awarded a “Rose of Lidice” medal. Honourable mentions were granted to thirteen-year-old Islamaj Aldo, five-year-old Muca Lidia and nine-year-old Samarxhia Ester. Having received small presents the winners with their parents and teachers were treated to a small meal prepared by the Tirana Embassy.
The competition deservedly attracted the attention of media this year. At least three dailies (according to our findings, Kult, Albanian Daily News and Mapo) carried information about the competition and the success of Albanian children. The prize awards took place in the presence of Top-channel, one of the well-known TV channels in Albania. This year’s media coverage surely encouraged young artists and their teachers to continue their worthful and hard work in deepening the cultural base in Albania. It was gratifying that the media did not omit to inform about the oncoming 39th ICEFA Lidice.
