16. 9. 2014

On September 9th, 2014 an opening ceremony of the RetrospectiveTravelling Exhibition ICEFA Lidice 1999-2010 also including a selection of works from the new 2014 edition was held at the IZOPARK Gallery, Moscow thanks to the organization and support of the Czech Center in Moscow. The ICEFA 2014 awarded Russian children also recieved their prizes during the ceremony.

Mr. Vladimír Remek, the Czech Ambassador to Russia, Mrs.Kateřina Bělská, the Head of the Czech Centre, and Mrs. Ivona Kasalická, the exhibition currator, handed over the diplomas. In his opening speech Mr. Charanza mentioned the history of the village of Lidice, which was burnt down and destroyed in 1942 during WWII. He talked about the significance of ICEFA  Lidice, which unites children from around the world and which is one of the most important children art exhibitions worldwide thanks to it's volume and duration. The curator Mrs. Kasalická pointed out that the last time ICEFA Lidice was presented in Russia was in the Czech Centre in Moscow in 2002,12 years ago, so she was happy to use the opportunity to bring the awarded artworks to Moscow again, and not only because of the large number of Russian children participating in the competition each year, or the fact that Russia is the 3rd most awarded country of the competition (following the Czech and Slovak Republics).

It was a nice surprise for the organizers and  Mrs.Kasalická to meet children and their teachers from faraway places, who came to Moscow to collect their awards. Besides 2 girls from the Izopark Gallery, Moscow, there were a girl and a boy from DCHŠ Kazanskaja, girl from Obninsk and 3 girls from three different schools - DCHŠ Novokuzneck, Art Studio Mahaon from Novorosijsk, and from DCHŠ im Pachomova, Sochi.

Besides of the awarded children and their parents, the opening ceremony was further attended by other numerous guests, including representatives of the Department of Culture from the local Municipality, and other galleries' directors. Further presentations of the exhibition in other places were arranged.

The exhibition will be on display at the Izopark Gallery until Octotber 18, 2014 and will then be sent to other venues in Moscow and the vicinity.
