ICEFA 2011 Prize Awards - Ukraine, Lviv

As a part of The Days of the Czech Republic in Lviv, 20 October saw the Lviv Regional Academic Library having ceremonial prize awards to the best participants of the 39th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice from western Ukraine as well as the formal opening of a profile exhibition of this competition, presenting artworks on various themes from various parts of the word.
While welcoming representatives of some of the non-winning schools, Lviv witnessed the arrival of 16 out of 17 winners from five regions (including the most remote one, Chernivtsi) falling within the competence of the Consulate General in Lviv. The awards took place in the presence of Consul General D. Pavlita and a representative of the department of education of the regional administration office. The program included a showing of the documentary by the Lidice Gallery about the organization of this competition. Highly appreciating the ICEFA organizers for asking for feedback, all the present teachers and parents expressed their opinion that thanks to this approach, the number of participants will keep growing. A report on this event will be broadcast by Lviv State Television in the main evening news programme. The winners from the most successful school received an on-the-spot invitation to the live morning programme of LSTV.
As to the number of participants, Ukraine is the fifth out of 66 participating countries; as to the number of prizes, it achieved no lower than third place. Until now, a great majority of the participants has been from eastern part of the country (CG Doneck), however, the last edition saw the proportion considerably changed in favour of children from the western part of Ukraine.
