ICEFA 2012 Prize Awards – Algeria, Algiers

On 5 March 2013, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Algiers had the honour of organizing the prize-giving ceremony to recognize the winners of the 40th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2012. One girl and two boys from the primary school Shamsi de Ben Aknoun were awarded a prize by the expert panel of judges.
The Algerian winners of the competition:
- Zedek Maya (9 years)
- Benkherfallah Sidah Med (12 years)
- Kenzi Jamil Istitene (12 years)
Accompanied by their teachers and parents, about thirty children from the primary school Shamsi de Ben Aknoun and the local SOS village attended the event. It was confirmed again that children make up a most perceptive audience. That’s why the Embassy will try to organize a wider event later this year, on the occasion of announcing the awards of the current 41st edition. Besides putting the awarded works on display and presenting the tragic historical events in Lidice, the event also included some refreshments for children, which was the occasion for the presentation of prominent places of the Czech Republic against the background of Czech folk songs. The certificates were presented to the winners by WO1 Martin Záruba from the Military Attaché’s Office and Deputy Ambassador Petr Matyáš.
