ICEFA 2013 Prize Awards - China, Shanghaj, Wuxi

On 11 March 2014, the Consulate General in Shanghai had a prize-giving ceremony to present prizes to five young artists from Wuxi for their entries for the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice. The exhibitions "Czech Castles and Stately Homes" and "Czech Fortification" were opened at this occasion.
Consul General Michal Kuzmiak opened his speech by pointing out that while in office he has been aware that the relations between the Czech Republic and the People's Republic of China not only take the right course but also deepen. He continued reminding that this year is significant for mutual relations of the two countries for marking the 65th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and the People's Republic of China. He briefly summarized the tragic history of the village of Lidice and the significance of the contribution of Chinese children to this competition that keeps alive the memory of the lost lives of those who were supposed to be erased from history; nevertheless the opposition to the evil has done the exact opposite. Then Consul General Michal Kuzmiak presented young artists with their prizes and gifts as keepsakes to remember the Czech Republic. The preview and prize-giving event was attended by 300 to 400 people.
