3. 11. 2015

On Monday, 26 October 2015, Jana Gašparíková visited an association called Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS, see note) in Battambang to attend a small ceremony at which she presented a honourable mention and certificates of participation to the Cambodian children who had sent in their works to the 43rd International Children's exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2015.

The chargé d´affaires opened the meeting with a brief introduction to the purpose of the competition and the history of Lidice, sharing her impressions of her viewing the exhibition at the Lidice Gallery this summer. Cambodian children participated in the competition for the second time in a row, but it is the first time that one of their entries has been awarded. The honourable mention was given to twelve-year-old Eichan Rattana for his drawing called "Earth in the sun". Other seven participants received the certificates of participation. Jana Gašparíková gave the children their pictures back to share them with other children. The awarded boy received a photo of his picture exhibited at the Lidice Gallery.

Mrs. Gašparíková used that opportunity to present invitations to participate in the next, 44th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2016, the theme of which, “School? Education!”, was enthusiastically welcomed.

Recently, the new PPS director Eric Regnault has thanked on behalf children for the opportunity to participate in the competition and promised their participation in the next year's edition, too. The ceremony concluded with modest refreshments for the children. Before leaving PPD, Jana Gašparíková visited the recently finished building of the school of fine and applied arts funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the European Union. It will be inaugurated on 6 November.
