ICEFA 2015 Prize Awards – Austria, Vienna

While visiting Vienna on June 9th, 2015, just a day before the anniversary of the Lidice tragedy (June 10th, 1942), Governor of South Moravia Michal Hašek met with Czech Ambassador Jan Sechter. The two gentlemen then handed over honourable mentions to two students from the Bilingual Highschool of the Comenius School Association, whose art works were awarded by the ICEFA Lidice 2015 panel of judges.
During his visit to the Czech language school run by the Comenius School Association, Governor M.Hašek bestowed upon the association's representatives a financial gift totalling 1 million Czech crowns. The gift was approved by the South Moravian council during its meeting on Feb. 19, 2015.
The purpose of the Comenius School Association in Vienna is founding, maintenace and support of Austrian kindergartens, elementary and high schools, as well as specialized and language schools, all of which offer classes in Czech, Slovak and German. The Comenius School Association was founded back in 1872 and since the beginning its purpose has been the Czech minority's eduaction and it serves an important role in the miority's life up to now.
The mission of the Comenius School Association in Vienna is to build, maintain and provide support for Austrian kindergartens, elementary and high schools, as well as specialized and language schools, all of which offer classes in Czech, Slovak and German. The Comenius School Association was founded back in 1872 and since its beginning its focus has been educating the Czech minority and it continues to play an important role in the minority's survival to this day.
