ICEFA 2014 Prize Awards - Georgia, Tbilisi, Poti, Sačchere

TBILISI

On October 30th, 2014 the Czech Embassy in Tbilisi organized an afternoon award ceremony at their prestigious premises in order to confer the ICEFA Lidice 2014 medal and honourable mentions to the award-winning children from Georgia.

Fifteen 15-year-old Ioanna Tsulaja received the medal and a diploma, while honourable mentions went to 5-year-old Natalia Bagashvili and 12-year-old Ana Kintsurashvili, personally presented by Mr. Tomáš Pernický, the Czech Ambassador. The honored children also received flowers, history books about the Czech Republic, and some souvenirs and small gifts to use for their artwork.

Besides those children receiving awards, the embassy also invited their parents, siblings, and teachers. Also present at the ceremony were representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education and Science, representatives of the City, Director and her Deputy of the Elena Achvlediani Children‘s Gallery, whose contributers have received many ICEFA awards in the past.

The ICEFA Lidice 2014 award ceremony in Tbilisi also attracted much attention from Georgian media representatives. Both the English paper “The Messenger“ and the Russian language “Argumenty i fakty“ published reports on the event and the press agency “Kavkazpress“ also reported on the ceremony and the winning children.

POTI

On November 10th, 2014 the Czech Ambassador Tomáš Pernický and Consul Sabina Cingrošová delivered honourable mentions to the borough of Poti, where a ceremony was held at the City Hall in honour of the two children awarded at the 42nd year of the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Art Lidice 2014.

Thirteen-year-old Merab Kaličava, a Poti Art School student, received a diploma, a book, and small gifts and flowers from the hands of the Czech Ambassador T.Pernický and Consul S.Cingošová. The second of the school’s two prize-winning  students, a 16-year-old Giorgie Nakašiu, couldn’t  come to collect his award due to illness and so his award was accepted for him by his sister instead.

Besides the Poti Mayor and the city representatives, teachers of Poti Art School and other guests were present at the ceremony. The local Georgian TV channel TV1 covered the ceremony, along with interviews of the Embassador T.Pernický, the art student Merab Kaličava honored, along with Poti Mayor Irakli Kaliku.

SAČCHERE

Then on November 11th, 2014 Mr.T.Pernický and Mrs. S.Cigošová travelled to the small Georgian town of Sačchere where they handed out an honourable mention, a book, small gifts and flowers to 8-year-old Lizi Lomidze from the local Sosa Cereteliho Art School. The ceremony at the Sačchere Culture Center was further attended by Lizi’s parents, her teachers and school mates and also by Sačchere social organization representatives.

A total of about 60 guests were present. The local TV station IMERVIZIA covered the event itself, along with interviews of its participants.
