ICEFA Prize Awards 2014 – Kosovo, Czech Embassy in Pristina

On November 11th, 2014 the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Pristina Mr. Ivo Šilhavý handed over an honourable mention issued by Lidice Memorial to Lirim Rexhepi, a student of Liria Elementary School in Pogragj/Gjilan.
Historically, this was the first time Kosovo students participated at ICEFA Lidice. Three schools from the Gjilan region submitted a total of 24 works in the competition and the school’s art teacher, Mr. Arian Rexhepi, initiated Kosovo‘s participation in this year‘s competition.
The Czech Ambassador was welcomed by the school’s Headmaster Mr. Mustafa Shabani. During their talk Mr. Šilhavý expressed appreciation not only for the participation of Kosovo schools in ICEFA 2014, but namely the school’s sucess in the competition in the form of the honourable mention awarded to its student. Further he noted the historical context of the competition, which was founded in memory of Lidice children murdered by the Nazis. The school’s Headmister thanked the Ambassador for his personal delivery of the honorable mention, recognizing the importance of his visit for the village school and also being a great motivation for the students and teachers. L. Rexhpi received the award from Mr. Šilhavý in the school’s common room in the presence of the Headmaster, teachers, one class and his family.
