ICEFA 2014 Prize Awards - Kenya, Nairobi

On November 24th and 26th, 2014 the handing out of honorable mentions to the Kenyan children awarded at the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice took place.
7 children from Kenya participated at the 42nd ICEFA Lidice, 2 of them gaining an award in the form of an honourable mention. Interestingly enough, although each child was a student of a different school, both had the same art teacher - Lisa Wee from Singapore - who brought information about the competition with her from the UK, where she had formerly worked.
Due to the approaching end of school year, the diplomas were handed out directly on premises of the schools which the two honoured girls attend, one of them being the Peponi Preparatory School owned by the Kenyan Head of the State.
The success in this international art competition is a great motivator to both girls, since according to British tradition Kenyan schools mainly just like to support sport competitions, while art education tends to stay on the periphery of interest, more at a theoretical level.
