ICEFA Prize Awards 2014 - Brazil, Sao Paulo, Batayporã

It was thanks to the help of Dolores L. Baťová Arambasic, the granddaughter of J.A. Baťa, and Markéta Pilátová, a Czech language teacher from southern Brazil, that children from Batayporã were able to participate in the 42nd edition of the Lidice competition. Czech Ambassador Jiří Havlík together with Consul General Pavel Procházka visited the small town of Batayporã during their official visit of the Brazilian state Mato Grosso do Sul. Here they handed out an honourable mention to the student Byanca Reis de Souza.
The town located in the interior of Brazil was founded by Jan Antonín Baťa in the 1950’s and Byanca’s school also carries his name.
Upon his arrival the Ambassador was welcomed by the student’s festive greeting. The ceremony took place in the school’s conference hall and was attended by approximately 200 visitors, including students, teachers and parents. Mr. Havlík then handed out small gifts from the Czechtourism agency to all the competition’s participants.
