ICEFA 2016 Prize Awards - Georgia, Tbilisi, Sachkere

Tbilisi

On 27 October 2016 the ceremonial room of the Czech Embassy in Georgia had an afternoon ceremony at which Head of the Representative Office Tomáš Pernický presented honourable mentions to the Georgian children whose entries had been awarded a prize in the 44th International Children's Exhibition of fine Arts LIDICE 2016. The chief guest at the ceremony was the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

A certificate, flowers and gifts usable in art activities were presented at the Embassy to 12-year-old Marta Tsulaia, who comes from a very gifted family of refugees from occupied Abkhazia. Last year, Marta Tsulaia won a medal in the 43rd International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts 2015. Her older sister Ioanna Tsulaia received a medal and a certificate not only in the last year's 43rd International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2015 but also in the 42nd International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2014.

A certificate, flowers and gifts usable in art activities were presented by Head of Representative Office T. Pernický also to 5-year-old Bagrati Gudushauri, who also comes from a very artistically gifted family – some years ago also his older sister won a certificate in International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts.

Apart from the winners, their parents, siblings and State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, there were among the participants also teachers and friends of the prize-winning children and the schoolmistress and teachers from Elena Achvlediani Children's Art Gallery, pupils of which received many awards in the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice in the past.

After the ceremony, the winners, their parents, teachers and other guests were treated to some refreshments.

The prize-giving ceremony of the 43rd International Children's Exhibition of fine Arts LIDICE 2015 at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tbilisi attracted much attention of Georgian media. A report on the prize-giving ceremony was carried in the English-language newspaper "The Messenger" and information on the event and the laureates was also presented by the press agency "Kavkazpress".

Sachkhere

On 15. November 2016, Ambassador Tomáš Pernický made a business trip to Sachkhere to present a certificate of the 44th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE 2016 to a pupil of the local art school, Mishiko Toroshelidze, in the local community centre. Besides the certificate, Ambassador presented the 15-year-old Mishiko Toroshelidze with gifts to be used in his artistic activities.

Taking place in the local community centre, the ceremony was attended by not only the mother of the winner but also other relatives, teachers, schoolmates and friends. Also present at the ceremony was now 10-year-old Lizi Lomidze, who won a certificate of the 42th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE 2014.

The principal guest of the ceremony was the first deputy chairman of the Sachkhere town council, Mr. Elgiz Chimadze, who promised on behalf of the municipality to continue supporting art schools and children's hobby groups. In the near future, a new culture centre is to be opened in Sachkhere to become home, among others, to an art school. The first deputy chairman of the Sachkhere town council also excused the absence of the mayor of the town and the chairman of the town council, who were on a business trip abroad at that time.

The presentation of the award to Mishiko Toroshelidze was covered by the local TV channel.
