ICEFA 2016 Prize Awards - Lithuania, Vilnius

On the morning of 17 October 2016, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vilnius hosted the prize award ceremony to celebrate the winners of the 44th ICEFA Lidice.
This year edition, dedicated to the theme "School – Education" to mark the 70th anniversary of UNESCO, saw 18,075 child contestants from 77 countries.
This year, the Lithuanian pupils and students were not so successful as in previous years, receiving seven honourable mentions in total. It proved difficult to capture the theme of education, however, all entries of young Lithuanian artists showed courage in dealing with the tough creative work with interesting ideas and original ways of rendering; the successful entries dealt with not only the outward world but also the inner, the spiritual one.
The ceremony was opened by Ambassador B. Mazánek, who cordially welcomed all the winners, their parents and teachers, thanked them for their participation in the international contest, wishing the winners other successes in the future. He also expressed his appreciation for the teachers and the parents, who prepared the children and supported them in their creative artistic activities. He voiced his belief that they will participate in the next ICEFA Lidice, featuring the theme "Travel", with the same interest and diligence.
The ambassador presented the prizes and certificates to the prizewinners from the J. Grušas gymnasium in Kaunas, Marjampole nursery school Ruta and Kupiškis nursery Salute. The winners who could not attend the ceremony will receive their certificates subsequently.
After the ceremony the participants were treated to small refreshments prepared by the staff of the embassy.
