ICEFA 2016 Prize Awards - Luxembourg, Luxembourg

On 10 Nov 2016, the gallery of the Czech Embassy in Luxembourg hosted the prize-giving ceremony to celebrate the successful contestants in the 44th edition of the children's art competition ICEFA Lidice 2016. There were 105 entries from 7 schools sent from Luxembourg that resulted in awards to five children.

The invitation to the ceremony at the Embassy in Luxembourg was extended not only to the winners but also to their parents, siblings, teachers and the management of the association of art schools in Luxembourg called Art à l’École. Also present at the event was Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Luxembourg Iva Mrázková, the head of the art studio in which one of the award-winning girls had created her work. There were among the audience also representatives of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education of Luxembourg.

The event was opened by Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Luxembourg Petr Kubernát, who welcomed the guests and briefly mentioned the history of the contest. He observed the importance of the Lidice legacy, highlighting the positive contribution of the contest to the education and development of the young generation. Then honourable mentions were presented to the winners along with a box of chocolates, which was followed by taking group photos. Brief contributions were also presented by Mr. Paul Bertemes, the president of Art à l’École, and Mr. Sylvère Sylvestrie, the president of the Art à l’École branch in the city of Luxembourg. Much appreciating the idea and the organization of the competition, Both expressed their readines to cooperate with the Embassy in the years to come. At the end, Ambassador Kubernát invited the present to participate in the next edition of the competition and treated them to small refreshments.
