On 1st December 2016 a prize-giving ceremony on the occasion of the announcement of the 44th International Children´s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2016 competition results was held at the Representative office in Moscow. The theme of the competition was „School – Education“.

In spite of the decline in the interest, in comparison with last year, Russia still belongs to most active members of the competition. 1171 children took part in 2016 year (in 2015 it was 1584). There were 78 awarded children, 20 of them received the awards at Moscow Embassy and others at the Consulate General in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.

The Czech Ambassador Vladimir Remek personally gave the awards and little presents from the Czech center, Czechtourism and the Embassy to 10 children. Jaroslava Muraško from Moscow obtained the main prize – Lidice rose medal.

The Czech Embassy and the Czech center organized an outstanding several-hours-long ceremony for special guests. There were more than 130 of them and more were interested in coming. Czech pianist Jiří Kollert and his son violinist Eduart Kollert were among those who performed during the program. Their performance made a contribution to the festival atmosphere. Petr Kroužek from the Embassy presented in a funny way interesting facts about czech history, geography and language. Light refreshment with czech specialities was prepared for the guests. At the end of the program the Czech center presented a movie Three Brothers.

The Prize award ceremony ICEFA Lidice has always been an important cultural event at the Czech Embassy in Moscow. It is a unique opportunity to present Czech republic to foreign children. For some of them it is their first visit to our country even though it is only via the Czech diplomats.

Yekaterinburg

On 10th December  2016, the General Consulate Yekaterinburg hosted the prize award ceremony of the 44th edition of the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts (ICEFA Lidice). The theme of the competition was „School – Education“.

65 honorable mentions and 13 Lidice Rose medals were sent to the General Consulate Yekaterinburg. Three students from Art school in Birobidjan received Lidice Rose medals. Since most participants, whose certificates were sent to General Consulate, were from remote places of our consular sector, the awards were sent by post to them. Four participants of the competition from Sverdlovsk area were invited to the prize giving ceremony to the General Consulate.

Presenting the certificates, Consul General Josef Maršíček briefly mentioned the history of Lidice and of this significant art contest. He introduced the work and activity of the General Consulate of the Czech Republic in Yekaterinburg. Light refreshment was prepared for the guests and the program was concluded with invitation to the performance of the Theatre of a young spectator. The tickets were available for both the children and their company.

The Prize award ceremony of the International competition at the General Consulate Yekaterinburg took place after two years break. We hold the opinion that this event is a very important part of public diplomacy, which brings Czech Republic closer to children, their families and schools participating in the event,  in an interesting way.

Ing. Josef Maršíček
