ICEFA 2016 Prize Awards - Albania, Tirana

On 9th December 2016 the Embassy of the Czech republic in Tirana held a prize-giving ceremony to award three Albanian children from Tirana art group Gezimi i Sirit who received honorable mentions in this year´s ICEFA Lidice 2016.
The Ambassador Bronislava Tomášová handed over the honorable mentions to the awarded children. Afterwards a discussion with children and their relatives took place. The Ambassador Mrs. Tomášová aquainted the children with the sad history of Lidice and mentioned the story of Albanian village of Borovë which shared a similar fate – on 6th June 1943, a German convoy was ambushed near the village and as a revenge 107 inhabitants including young children were murdered the same day.
Mrs. Tomášová showed interest in the artistic beginnings of the awarded children and informed the guests about the history of ICEFA Lidice. She mentioned tha fact that children from all over the world take part in it and it aims primarily at promoting the idea of piece.
