ICEFA Lidice 2022 Prize Awards – Palestine

On July 12, 2023, the Contact Office of the Czech Republic in Ramallah organized a screening of short films by animation programme graduates. The screening took place at the Visual Arts Center art school in Ramallah. Students of this school have been participating in the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice for several years. Two young Palestinian artists, whose works won an award in previous years, received their diplomas and prizes.
Twenty students from the Visual Arts Forum in Ramallah attended a screening of a series of films made by graduates of the Theory and Practice of Animation studio of the Tomas Bata University in Zlin (Czech Republic). In this way, students had an opportunity to glimpse into the world of Czech animated films. Visual Arts Forum was founded in 2002 and offers an academic art program as well as a wide range of leisure courses for approximately 120 children and adults. It also organizes community art projects, psychosocial support programs (art therapy and training in this field) and runs a multimedia studio for young Palestinian artists focused on animation, online content creation and art therapy.
Visual Arts Forum students participate regularly in the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice, organized since 1967 in memory of the children from Lidice murdered by the Nazis on June 10, 1942 and child victims of war conflicts. After a break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Contact Office of the Czech Republic in Ramallah presented diplomas and prizes to two young talented artists from Palestine who were awarded by the jury in previous years: Omar Amarne for his interpretation of the theme of nature and landscape and Bisan Asad for a drawing depicting her dream museum.
